WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! It took a lot of hard work from the team at MY 103.9 but HOLY COW is this going to HUGE! It’s so size LARGE that Ben Starr from MasterChef Season 2 and my brother from another mother David Martinez from MasterChef Season 3 will be there to help!

My103.9 and Cold Stone Creamery® are joining forces in celebrating the life of Ryan Roberts – a young boy who garnered national attention by inspiring thousands of “banana split parties” across the world – with a banana split party of their own at Dave & Buster’s in Tempe, AZ on July 28th, 2012. The event will benefit the patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Ryan was born with Down syndrome and a heart defect in September of 2010 and passed July 10th. A Facebook event page was created by a family friend inviting families to “break the rules” and enjoy a banana split for dinner with their children in honor of Ryan since Ryan would never be able to enjoy one himself.

Ryan’s Banana Split Party is the first in a series of my “Random Act of Kindness” and will be the biggest ice cream party in the history of Phoenix! My fellow MasterChef contestants Ben Starr and David Martinez will help serve up banana splits provided by Cold Stone Creamery®. You could also win some of our best dishes, including Ben’s Carrot Cake and my I Hope He Chokes Pie. We’re even raffling off the chance to have David Martinez and I crash your kitchen and cook YOU dinner!

The party kicks off at 11:00 AM and the first 200 people in attendance will receive a banana split, a beverage, one (1) Dave & Buster’s Power Card for all-day unlimited gaming and two (2) raffle tickets to win various prizes for only $10. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased at $2 per ticket with 100% of all proceeds benefitting Phoenix Children’s Hospital. I can’t wait to see you there!

I am a new fan to Master Chef this year and a fledgling foodie in my own right. You were my instant favorite out of the gate. You have an amazing personality and skills to put any wannabe to shame! I have to say it is amazing to see you take an opportunity like reality TV and turn it into a winning situation for charity! If I lived in AZ, I’d be there!! I will be rooting for you on MC and for your business! You deserve it!

    M-
I just read Ben’s piece on your weekend together. It sounds like it came together well. I’m so happy for you that you had a successful fundraiser, and just watching the short video made an impact on me.
I’m touched at the level of importance you gave to the cause while giving kids, parents and friends reason to smile and enjoy each other’s company. I’m even more thrilled at how much you’ve filled a place in David’s life in his new chapter, and how you and Ben have befriended one another, giggling like tiny children with glee upon meeting.
I wrote a little bit on Ben’s blog about how through his writing and the collective enthusiasm of your group, you’ve formed and strengthened a bond that will serve your friendship well in the future, and how I envy and also strive for that in my own life. Aside from your on-air personality, you’re making moves that supercede merely what people expect you to be, and you’re doing good. Well done. Keep it up.

Good luck to you Monti! Hope you’ve been enjoying the Olympics too.:-)
